Since 2023 we've supported business growth for West Yorkshire's green economy.
Through tailored support, local intelligence and training programmes we supported 231 businesses, created/safeguarded 109 jobs, increased sales by £2.2m and supported 58 new market entrants to solar and other green tech markets.
Between 2023-25 we provided decarbonisation support to 100 businesses in York City. During the project we identified over 750 C02e tonnes, delivered 39 carbon reduction action plans and helped 18 businesses to invest in green technologies.

We provide unique research and analysis into local green technologies and environmental services sector capabilities and opportunities.
Our reports are market leading, using KMatrix and ONS data to analyse local areas and specific subsectors to inform policymaking across environmental planning and economic development.
The Local Government Association (LGA) commissioned Green Economy to undertake a review of the ways in which councils can use their powers and influence to attract and retain a low carbon business base.
The report identified key levers that can enact change; the challenges that are currently prohibiting low carbon growth; and made recommendations for how councils can overcome those challenges in pursuit of growing a thriving low carbon sector.
Green Economy, together with Bosch, Manchester Metropolitan University and regional partners delivered a Hydrogen supply chain challenge to accelerate hydrogen supply chain development in Greater Manchester, addressing complex decarbonisation challenges, especially Scope 3 emissions.
The programme connected regional businesses with global expertise to foster innovation and competitiveness in emerging hydrogen markets.
