Get Cycling on track to make annual savings of £23k

Get Cycling CIC, situated in the York, are making strides towards net zero, following expert advice from Net Zero consultants, expecting to save 11.5 carbon tonnes and £23,070 annually.

The business, which specialises in the sale, rental and repair of inclusive cycles across the UK, took advantage of a fully-funded carbon reduction audit with one of Green Economy’s consultants, as part of a project with City of York Council (CYC).

Carbon reduction action plan 

Eligible businesses can access one-to-one support from an environmental consultant who will perform a site visit to identify decarbonisation opportunities across lighting, heating, equipment, processing, waste, transport and digital infrastructure.  
 
Each business will receive a decarbonisation report and plan with a series of recommendations to implement.

Energy monitoring technology 

Eligible businesses will have fully funded energy monitoring sensors installed onsite with access to energy management software, provided by Oak Network.  
 
The technology will give business rich data on electricity use throughout their operation, enabling them to identify and implement easy changes to processes and practices that will reduce energy demand, and save money.

City of York Council declared a Climate Emergency back in 2019 and have since set an ambition for York to be a net-zero carbon city by 2030, With businesses accounting for around a third of emissions through industry, farming and buildings, the local business community has a vital role to play in delivering this ambition.
