Grow Your Green Economy Manchester

We are happy to share Green Economy's Impact Report for the 2024-25 financial year. In this annual publication, we report on progress towards our vision for a net zero carbon economy that delivers prosperity, inclusivity and opportunities for businesses and communities.

Fundamental to this is the work we've delivered on behalf of Greater Manchester Combined Authority and West Yorkshire Combined Authority through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to decarbonise the local business base through engagement and hands on business support, providing intensive support and market opportunities to new entrants and existing businesses within the local green tech supply chain.

Key Highlights

  • We engaged with 5804 businesses in the 2024-2025 financial period, reaching over 20 million people through communications and business activities, and provided intensive support to 489 companies across the entire supply chain
  • We helped businesses to save 3,942 tonnes of C02e and make £663k of cost savings, identifying a further 60,000 tonnes of c02e savings via our new online carbon calculator.
  • We launched a new Installer Accelerator programme which upskilled 20 new entrants to Greater Manchester’s solar market – increasing capacity by 16%. There are six cohorts planned in the 2025-6 financial year, and the course was shortlisted as 'Upskilling and Training Initiative of the Year' at the edie Net Zero Awards 2025.

The report details all of our impacts and achievements in this period and provides a benchmark for ongoing activity, as we continue to support local government to deliver their environmental plans, whilst working directly with businesses to deliver their transition to net zero, with the support of a robust local supply chain.
