“The Government’s energy plan will provide some relief to households that prices are now capped, but the measures taken are unlikely to eliminate the fuel poverty faced by millions this winter. The six month support offered to business will be welcomed, but does not allow sufficient time for a business to improve energy efficiency or install self-generation solutions that will make a long lasting impact.

 

“The Prime Minister spoke at length about ramping up national energy supply, establishing a taskforce on energy supply and reviews of both energy regulation and net zero. But an immediate focus on national gas production through fracking and North Sea licences will do little to ease pricing and supply issues in the short term. More detail is needed to understand the plan to accelerate renewables production if the Prime Minister’s commitment to deliver Net Zero by 2050 is to be achieved.”
