R Tindall Fabricators Limited are a bespoke pre-fabricated fire sprinkler pipe and mechanical pipework organisation based in Oldham. Facing high energy costs, the business reached out to Green Economy to explore opportunities for potential savings, and to take the first steps in their journey to net zero.
To kick things off, Green Economy advisor Piyush conducted a full on-site energy audit to explore operational gaps and identify potential quick wins for immediate cost savings. The business was also guided through the carbon footprinting process, enabling them to collate accurate Scope 1 and 2 emissions data.
Once baselines had been established, Green Economy supported the creation of an in-house sustainability team, designing a training programme to engage all R Tindall staff in the net zero journey, and delivered a detailed report outlining recommended projects to reduce carbon emissions and operating costs:
Each of these recommendations included potential CO2 emissions savings, giving R Tindall all the information they needed to make informed decisions about their next steps.
With the help of Green Economy, R Tindall was able to secure grant funding for LED lighting upgrades, and they were put in touch with a sustainable local supplier via our Marketplace to keep costs and emissions associated with the project to a minimum.
A solar panel proposal is also in review, with an installation planned by the end of the year to improve resilience, reduce reliance on grid energy and save energy costs. Green Economy have been on hand every step of the way to advise and support, ensuring that the organisation feels empowered to progress their own net zero transition.
A new Sustainability Department has been created at R Tindall as a result of this work, with automation measures improving productivity, reducing waste and slashing operational costs by nearly 10%:
