From their Leeds HQ, Trust Electric Heating (TEH) manufacture and install an innovative British electric heating solution for homeowners and businesses across the UK.
The business was established by the founder and inventor of the NEOS electric radiator, Scott Conor, in 2014. TEH previously re-sold a German radiator, but believed they could improve the product efficiency and combine the best parts of every heating system on the market into one heating solution, and so the NEOS electric radiator was born.
Fast forward 10 years, TEH are the UK’s most awarded electric heating company, backed by Innovate UK and the University of Huddersfield with a patented electric radiator, scientifically proven to save up to 50% on heating bills. Scott now works with his partner and wife Fiona, who brings her experience in business development and marketing to differentiate TEH from every other heating company.
Trust Electric approached Green Economy for support after the launch of the new Growing the Green Economy programme in West Yorkshire, funded by UK SPF. The business began working with the Green Economy team who conducted the green technology sector diagnostic to identify opportunities for growth. Whilst the business had a strong brand and marketing strategy, they wanted to build commercial growth, requiring new routes to market in order to compete with other heating technologies and providers.
Green Economy introduced the business to the Energy Innovation Agency, who were able to bring the business into a pilot project for social housing providers, which will lead to new, large-scale sales opportunities. In addition, their consultant provided the business with market analysis to identify social housing providers to target as potential customers.
Fiona Conor, Managing Director Trust Electric Heating, said:
“Social housing is a key market for our product as social housing stock properties aren’t compatible with a heat pump, or some tenants don’t want night storage heaters. We’re the perfect alternative, as we can manufacture bespoke solutions that fit organisation’s needs and solves the challenges of their previous heating system. Green Economy not only introduced us to a live opportunity to showcase our product to the market, but also provided us with analysis of potential clients that would be well suited to our service.”
Green Economy also introduced the business to Salford University, to participate in a project that will test their product and raise awareness among the home building sector.
In addition, they were introduced to the Green Skills Academy, one of the North West’s leading green technology training centres, to showcase their technology and highlight its compatibility with other technology.
Vicky Wilding, Green Technologies and Services Lead at Green Economy, said:
“The green technologies and services sector is built on collaborations and partnerships. Customers know they want to reduce energy so assume they can install a solar panel and their problem is solved. Businesses in the sector also have to educate their customers that the technology they offer might not be the most impactful at that moment. As such it is really important to be part of a network of suppliers who can draw upon the expertise and knowledge of the supply chain to bring in local, trusted partners that will fulfil the clients requirements.”
To achieve this, Trust Electric were featured as a Member in the spotlight in their Membership newsletter, and published a free profile on Green Economy’s Marketplace.
Fiona said: “The fully-funded support we have received from Green Economy has been invaluable. Being able to tap into their knowledge and connections means that we’ve made a huge leap forward with our growth plans this year.”
