Green Economy worked with a West Yorkshire renewable energy solutions provider to highlight new event and workshop opportunities, secure accreditations including MCS Certification, Battery and Solar certifications, create three new green jobs and increase revenue by £500,000.

Grean Deal Energy Advisor (GDEA) provide renewable energy solutions for commercial properties throughout the UK. They specialise by offering a tailored approach to all clients and utilising a power purchase agreement (PPA). Focussing on solar and battery storage needs, from survey and design to delivery and monitoring.

GDEA have rolled out hundreds of carbon reduction projects over the years, delivering total carbon savings of 195.28 tCO2e.

A new tendering process

GDEA were first introduced to Liam Wolstenholme, Green Technologies Consultant at Green Economy, in July 2024. Working together, Liam helped GDEA to identify new project and tender opportunities well suited to the team, supporting and instilling confidence in the application process.

Most recently, Liam has worked with Liaqat Hussain, Director at GDEA, on a successful bid for a new solar contract, leading to £500k in new sales for GDEA.

“We have moved into the procurement of public sector contracts through tendering, something we didn’t do prior to working with Liam,” explains Liaqat. “We have also reengaged with the local stakeholders, through the introduction of lots of ‘buyer’ events. A newfound energy for achieving the company’s mission has simply come from having the enthusiasm of Liam and the team.”

Liaqat began investing in sustainability guided by his religious and ethical beliefs. Having had many businesses over the years, his mission with GDEA is to assist in eradicating fuel and heat poverty across the UK and Pakistan. This goal required growth and refined strategies.

“On the first occasion of meeting Liaqat, we spoke for over 2 hours on his mission and his specific goals in the deployment of green technologies,” says Liam. “Having this level of detail and entry into his business enabled me to conduct a business diagnostic and, from that, set some SPECIFIC tasks for myself and Liaqat to work on and achieve.”

“Liaqat has trusted me with providing insight and suggestions throughout our working relationship, it’s therefore no accident he is having the success he and his team are having with his collaborative approach and his ability to take on suggestions and advice.”

‘Don’t do it alone’

Most notably, through Green Economy’s support GDEA were able to identify new growth opportunities, employing three new members of staff to deliver this ambition, including an installation manager, a solar PV installer, and a compliance manager.

Reflecting on their sustainability journey, Liaqat offers up the following advice to companies at the earlier stages of development:

“Seek out a consultant and don’t do it alone! There are so many helpful professionals that have genuine intentions. Keep it simple, and don’t rush the process. Make sure your changes have true, lasting impacts.”

“Engage with your wider stakeholders, attend events, network often!” he adds.
