Climate change and sustainability are increasingly becoming a focus for small and medium businesses, but without a solid foundation of understanding it can be hard to know where to start.
Carbon Literacy is an accredited, internationally recognised indicator of a business' commitment to sustainability. Carbon literate organisations typically see reduced energy and resource consumption, safer supply chains, lower commercial risk and enhanced competitiveness.

Green Economy, part of the Growth Company, is a social enterprise engaged in helping businesses reduce their carbon footprints every day. Our specialists have first hand experience of the barriers businesses face to reducing their carbon footprints and implementing sustainability strategies.
Our Carbon Literacy course has been specifically designed with these challenges in mind, giving your staff the skills and knowledge that they need to make informed and sustainable choices in their everyday roles.
Our Carbon Literacy training starts at the very beginning - by guiding learners through the science of climate change, how it impacts our personal and professional lives, and the outcomes that we can expect in the future.
We'll explore the impact of climate change, globally and locally, to gain a better understanding of why action is needed.
In order to reduce your carbon footprint, you need to benchmark your current consumption. We will work with learners to calculate their personal carbon footprint, identifying areas where significant reductions can be made.
Once learns have their own carbon footprint to understand how they use resources at home and at work, we will explore practical steps that they can take to reduce their consumption of resources, both personally and professionally.
Once learners have identified some areas of improvement we'll explore how to talk about climate change with colleagues, unpick the language that helps to communicate the need for action and discuss techniques to talk to others about the topic.

A Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) is an organisation that has been accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project as having a substantial commitment to Carbon Literacy. The accreditation is described by the Carbon Literacy Project as a visible 'badge' that showcases this commitment, and enables your organisation to better interact with your community - whether that be your staff, customers, neighbours, learners suppliers or stakeholders.
Carbon Literacy®: “An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”
